About Me

Certified Holistic Health Counselor, Accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and Professional Chef

I’m convinced that I became a chef because I like to make people happy. After attending UCLA, I headed to culinary school instead of law school. There, I was taught to use my ingredients to enhance the flavors of my dishes, to entice the palate, to satisfy and delight.

I love the flexibility of food, its potential to be spun with the right touch into a wonder to the taste buds. However, many people have a love/hate relationship with their food….or the food they love doesn’t love them back.

I too, like most or at least most women, have experienced the intense cravings, the fleeting joy of satisfying a craving, the regret in doing so, the confusion about what I am “supposed” to eat, the stubborn elimination of “bad” foods, righteous supplementation with super foods and basically thorough confusion of my hungry gut.

I then decided it was time to figure all of this out academically and I began a course of study in holistic nutrition at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Besides teaching me to be kinder to my body and how to help other do the same, the program made me a better chef.

I learned a dizzying array of diets, presented by their passionate advocates, and was left confused, by design.

However, I was also broken of my media-induced biases and began to see food for what it was –essentially the fuel on which our bodies either function or fail.

It finally became clear that great health doesn’t include starving to death or even being on a diet, just a willingness to pay attention to yourself and listen to your body’s truths. When one finds the food they love and it bestows great health that is the greatest gift of all.
